The Heiltsuk people have inhabited Bella Bella and the surrounding region for around 9,000 years. They were skilled hunters, fishers, gatherers and traders – and these activities shaped their economy. Nowadays, there are about 1,600 inhabitants left in Bella Bella and the Heiltsuk Economic Development Corporation is responsible for the current economic and business affairs of the Heiltsuk Nation. This of course means they needed an up to date, professional, functional and yet stylish website.
Taking inspiration directly from the newsletters I’d designed earlier, we created a site with big, bright photographs of the area and hints of indigenous designs.
